Stafford & Rural Homes - ICT Review

Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) is the largest social landlord in Stafford. SARH own and manage over 6,000 homes across Stafford and the surrounding area.

As Stafford & Rural Homes continues to improve services for customers and deliver efficiencies, the importance of a structured business transformation and ICT strategy was identified.

As part of Shaw's project methodology, a consultation exercise was undertaken with the senior management team, staff and customers. The purpose of this consultation was to assess the current position of the IT applications, IT technology, business processes and the IT service.

The results from these consultation exercises were incorporated into the revised ICT Strategy, communicated to and agreed with the project team.

Shaw approached the project in the following way:

  • A review was undertaken of the existing documentation & information provided by the team.
  • A survey was sent to all staff to find out their views on the current IT applications and technology in use and to identify any perceived gaps in ICT systems to support their roles.
  • Interviews were held with a large-cross section of staff, from the senior managers through to junior staff to gain a detailed understanding of the business requirements, service plans and how IT could better support the delivery of them.

Using the above information, we detailed our understanding of the current service and the improvements required and presented these findings at the mid-point review.

Based on the feedback received at the mid-point review we developed the ICT Strategy and this was signed off by the management team.

SARH now has a revised ICT Strategy that provides a prioritised list of projects detailing both the estimated costs and resource requirements for the next five years (2015–2020).
